Updated: Oct 18, 2019

Beginning this month, Netflix has added the film, For Greater Glory, to its viewing catalog. It is a film based on the Catholic faith and highlights the impacts of religious persecution that occurred within the Mexican society during the 1920's. This 2012 film was co-sponsored by the Knights of Columbus.

The following synopsis is provided by IMDB:

In the exhilarating action epic FOR GREATER GLORY, an impassioned group of men and women make the decision to risk it all for family, faith and country. This film unfolds the (hidden) true story of 1920's Cristeros War.

As General Gorostieta (Andy García), a retired military general who witnesses with his family the fall of Mexico into a violent civil war, begins his transition from the most hesitating man into the most inspiring and self-sacrificing leader of the ragtag resistance army.

Gorostieta starts noticing the personal struggle his men faced due to religious persecution, transforming a ragtag band of rebels into a heroic force.

In the middle of this transition, Gorostieta discovers how courage and belief are forged even when justice seems lost.
